Garage Door Opener Repair Hacks

Garage door opener replacement parts.

Turns out you don’t always need to replace the garage door opener. In this case, we completed a garage door opener repair right here in Indianapolis. Customer called frantically because of a phantom operator! Opening and closing at random times throughout the day and night!

Luckily for this family we have encountered this type of issue before with the Liftmaster 8500. Side Note, I don’t recommend the Liftmaster 8500. Currently this configuration has been phased out, but even the newer models are not my favorite.

I’ll get right down to it. Turns out this was a 2013 model. The wall button 888LM originally supplied with this unit had some longevity issues. I was able to share this info with the customer and instead of replacing the full garage door opener with a newer unit we were able to replace and update the wall button for at a much more valuable cost. We simply swapped out the previous wall button with the 889LM, repaired all remotes and accessories and the garage door opener has a new life! No more phantom operation.
